The story

About this festival.

Food & Wine Festival is a free, annual food and wine festival held each September at Dancing Dragonfly Winery in St. Croix Falls, Wisconsin — the third edition ran September 26–27, 2015, across 2 days with no admission charge and open to the public. The festival takes place at Dancing Dragonfly Winery, located at 2013 120th Avenue in the St. Croix Valley, a region known for its autumn color and proximity to the St. Croix River.

Food & Wine Festival is built around hands-on participation rather than passive tasting, anchored by an open grape stomp — not a competition — with 3 scheduled stomp sessions over the weekend: Saturday at 1:30 p.m. and 4:00 p.m., and Sunday at 2:00 p.m. Stomp tickets are purchased on-site the day of the event; pre-sale tickets are not available. A wine tasting gazebo offers sampling of Dancing Dragonfly Winery's wines throughout both days. Live music runs across the full weekend, with 5 acts performing across Saturday and Sunday — including BZ Girls, Buskers Duo, David Ybarra and the Northside Dukes, Dan Israel, and Locklin Road. Saturday hours run 11:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.; Sunday hours are 12:00 noon to 5:00 p.m.

Beyond wine and music, the festival hosts a marketplace of artisan vendors and food vendors. Artisan booths have included makers such as Canfield Pottery, Groveland Confections, River Road Honey, and Hillside Henna, among more than a dozen others. Food vendors have included Badger Seafoods, Old Heritage BBQ, Mia Mangia, and Red Shack Foods, alongside Dancing Dragonfly Winery's own food offerings. Because general admission is free, the festival is accessible without advance ticket purchase — the only on-site cost noted is the grape stomp ticket, purchased day-of.

Dancing Dragonfly Winery sits in St. Croix Falls, Wisconsin, along the St. Croix Valley corridor. The winery produces its own wines, including a variety called Marquessa, and offers wine club memberships and private blend experiences year-round. The Food & Wine Festival serves as the winery's signature autumn public event, drawing on the seasonal character of the valley in late September.
