The story
About this festival.
Taste Washington is a multi-day food and wine festival held annually in March in Seattle, Washington — described by its organizers as the nation's largest single-region wine and food festival. The 2026 edition is scheduled for March 21–22, with additional events spanning the broader festival week. Over 200 Washington wineries and more than 80 restaurants are expected to participate, with the centerpiece Grand Tasting drawing an attendance of 7,500 or more guests at Lumen Field Event Center.
Taste Washington is structured as a series of distinct events rather than a single tasting room. The Grand Tasting runs Saturday and Sunday from 1:00–5:30 PM, with VIP access beginning at 1:00 PM, and features a chef demonstration stage alongside the winery and restaurant floor. Surrounding events include Pacific Standard, a seafood-focused evening pairing Washington whites, rosés, and sparkling wines with Pacific Northwest ingredients; The New Vintage, a Friday night soirée with DJ Supreme La Rock at a formal venue; a Saturday seminar series at King Street Ballroom (255 S King St) led by Masters of Wine, Master Sommeliers, and winemakers; a Sunday Brunch focused on whites and rosé; and an intimate Dinner Series with 30–75 guests per seating. The after-party, held within SODO, is designed around chef-favorite foods paired with Washington wines.
For practical planning: tickets are sold exclusively through tastewashington.org and are non-refundable but fully transferable. Re-entry is not permitted at any Taste Washington event. Bags are allowed at the Grand Tasting but subject to security screening. The Embassy Suites Seattle Downtown Pioneer Square, located adjacent to Lumen Field Event Center, offers a negotiated rate for festival attendees. Seminar sessions are described as high-demand and include blind tastings, interactive panels, and rare wine lineups — early ticket purchase is advisable for those events specifically.
Washington State is home to over a dozen American Viticultural Areas, with Columbia Valley serving as the dominant appellation umbrella. The state is particularly known for Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Syrah, Riesling, and Chardonnay. Taste Washington, co-organized with Washington State Wine, provides structured access to that range across a single weekend, making it a practical entry point for consumers and a useful benchmarking event for trade professionals.
