How the 2026 wine festival calendar works
The American wine festival year has a shape. It opens quietly in January and February with indoor grand tastings and trade-and-public expos in large cities, where importers and distributors pour hundreds of wines under one roof. Spring is when the street formats wake up: from April onward, downtown wine walks hand out a glass and a passport and send you from shop to restaurant to tasting room, usually for $25 to $50. By May and June the food-and-wine weekends arrive, pairing regional chefs with the wineries that grow nearby.
The high point is harvest. September and October are when vineyards open their crush pads, wine trails run passport weekends across a whole appellation, and the largest outdoor grand tastings book their dates. If you plan one festival trip in 2026, plan it for those eight weeks — and book lodging early, because harvest weekends in Napa, the Willamette Valley, the Finger Lakes and the Texas Hill Country fill months out. November tapers into holiday tastings, and December is mostly winery open houses rather than festivals.
Prices are more consistent than the formats suggest. General admission for a real multi-winery festival sits between $30 and $100 almost everywhere in the country; VIP tiers add early entry, reserve pours and shade for $100 to $250. Every listing on Pour Trail shows the tiers we could verify and the date we verified them, and we mark a festival cancelled or sold out as soon as the organizer does. What we do not list: beer festivals, food-only events, and dinners at a single restaurant. If it is on this page, several wineries are pouring.
Use the month grid above to jump to a specific window, the state chips to plan around a trip, or the calendar view and map to see everything at once. Dates for 2026 are added weekly as organizers publish them, and the newsletter goes out when new festivals in your states appear.
2026 wine festival questions
- How many wine festivals are there in 2026?
- Pour Trail lists 754 wine festivals across 39 states for 2026, and the list grows every week as organizers publish dates. 124 of them are still ahead. Only ticketed events where several wineries pour for the public count as festivals here; single-winery tastings and dinners are listed separately as events.
- When is wine festival season in 2026?
- The US season runs April through November, with two peaks: late spring (May and June) for wine walks and food-and-wine weekends, and harvest (September and October) when vineyards open for crush. In 2026, May, October and August carry the most dates. Winter is quieter but not empty — indoor grand tastings and expos fill January through March in larger cities.
- How much do wine festival tickets cost in 2026?
- General admission for most US wine festivals runs $30 to $100. Wine walks and small-town street tastings sit at the low end ($25–$50); large grand tastings and multi-day food-and-wine festivals sit at the top, with VIP tiers from $100 to $250 that add early entry, reserve pours and a lounge. Designated-driver tickets, where offered, are usually $10–$25. Every listing on Pour Trail shows the price tiers we could verify.
- Which states have the most wine festivals in 2026?
- California (135), Texas (77), Florida (53), Virginia (44) and Maryland (39) lead the 2026 calendar on Pour Trail. California's volume reflects its 150-plus AVAs, but the wine-walk format has spread to nearly every state, which is why the calendar covers 39 states rather than a handful.
- When do 2026 wine festival tickets go on sale?
- Most organizers open sales 8 to 12 weeks before the event, and spring festivals often announce in January. Early-bird pricing typically ends 3 to 4 weeks out and saves $10–$30 per ticket. Popular grand tastings and harvest weekends sell out in advance; wine walks more often have tickets at the door.
- Do wine festivals happen rain or shine?
- Almost always. Outdoor festivals proceed in light rain, and wine walks move indoors by design because each stop is inside a shop or restaurant. Cancellations are rare and are usually driven by heat advisories or wildfire smoke in the West. Organizers announce changes by email and social media, so buy tickets with the address you actually read.
