The story

About this festival.

Winestock is an annual outdoor music and wine event held each summer at Christian W. Klay Winery in Chalk Hill, Pennsylvania — a 1960s-themed celebration that runs 10 hours, from 11:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m., with a ticket price of $50. The event takes place on the winery's 215-acre farm at 412 Fayette Springs Road and is held rain or shine.

The format blends live music, food trucks, and wine in a single-day outdoor setting styled after the spirit of the original 1969 Woodstock festival. Six live acts perform 1960s-era music throughout the day — past lineups have included Chuck Cantalamessa, Wizdom, Shelly McCombie Duo, Fungus, No Bad JuJu, and Tres Lads. Beyond music, vendors on-site sell 1960s-themed merchandise including hippie attire, jewelry, incense, oils, CBD products, and vintage-style posters. Winestock is held at Christian W. Klay Winery, Fayette County's first commercial winery, which opened in 1995 and maintains nearly 14,000 vines across its property.

The $50 ticket includes a commemorative stemless wine cup and a tie-dyed tee shirt. Chilled wine, cocktails, beer, and non-alcoholic beverages are available for purchase on-site; no outside beverages — alcoholic or non-alcoholic — are permitted. Attendees are encouraged to bring a blanket or lawn chair for seating on the grounds. Tickets can be purchased by phone at 724.439.3424.

Christian W. Klay Winery grows cool-climate grape varieties across its southwestern Pennsylvania farm, with the vineyard tracing back to an original planting of 1,000 vines that has since grown to nearly 14,000. The winery's location in Chalk Hill, in Fayette County, places it within the broader Appalachian foothills wine-growing area of Pennsylvania, where the growing season supports a range of hybrid and vinifera varieties suited to the region's climate.
